President's Welcome
Welcome
to the Web site of The California
Maritime Academy, the smallest and
certainly one of the most unique
campuses of The California State
University. Cal Maritime has often been referred
to as the “best kept secret” in higher
education on the West Coast, but now we're
committed to letting that secret out.
One of the ways
we’re doing that is through our Web site, where you’ll find
many more photos and much more
information about us. We hope our new
site will give you a better taste of
what makes our campus so special and
such a great place to call home. Plus,
we designed it in a way that we hope is
much more user-friendly, so you’ll be
able to find what you need — when you
need it.
For a good sense of
what is happening at Cal Maritime today,
click the homepage links to our monthly
e-newsletter CURRENTS and our
print magazine, Cal Maritime.
It’s an exciting
time for Cal Maritime. We’re
heading towards 80 years in maritime
education, and in our second decade of
service as a campus of The
California State University. We're
also growing...over 80% in enrollment in
the last eight years...and in resources.
In addition to our
recently completed Technology Center and
Engineering Lab buildings, three more new buildings
are on the way — a state-of-the-art
Simulation Center (fall 2008), a 132-bed
residence hall (fall 2010), and Physical
Education/Marine Survival Training
Center (est. 2011-2012.)
Cal Maritime is
committed to being a leading educational
institution recognized for excellence in
business, engineering, operations,
and policy of the transportation and
related industries of the Pacific Rim
and beyond. So whether you’re a high
school student in Hawaii, a parent in
Seattle, a recruiter in Long Beach, or a
member of the Vallejo community, we hope
you find exactly what you’re looking for
here on our site. And if you don’t,
please let us know.
