We've launched a new
effort to establish a network of
class
secretaries for each of Cal Maritime's
graduating classes. While our
initial list is fairly small, we are
steadily adding contact information for
alumni who have agreed to take on this
important task for their particular
graduating classes.
The Class Secretary
performs important tasks:
-
Works to make
sure contact information for as many
class members as possible is up to
date (addresses, phone and e-mail
information.)**
-
Collects
information about class members for
inclusion in the Class Notes
section of our Cal Maritime
magazine, sent out periodically to
several thousand Academy alumni and
friends worldwide.
-
Passes along
timely news and information about
the Academy to interested members of
the class - usually by e-mail.
If Your Class
Already Has a Secretary:
"Check in" with them to make sure the
current contact information they have
for you is up to date. When there
are important milestones in your life
you want other classmates to know about,
you can pass them along to the secretary
for distribution through e-mails and
other class communications to
classmates, and for inclusion in
Class Notes.
To Serve As Secretary of Your Class:
Please contact the office of Alumni
Affairs as indicated here. We'll
send you a list of class contact
information as we have it for your
class, and ask you and your classmates
to help fill in as many "blanks" as you
can. You'll also invite members of
your class to send along their news -
jobs, marriages, awards, etc. Two
or three times a year, we'll ask you to
send in your latest class notes for the
next issue of the magazine.
We'll also let you
know when each issue of our monthly
CURRENTS newsletter is ready for
reading on the Academy website.
CURRENTS, prepared monthly by the
Office of Public Relations, includes the
very latest news about campus
activities, people and events and is
prepared for faculty, staff, cadets,
families and friends of the Academy as
well as for alumni to keep you up to
date. ** Maintaining
up-to-date contact information for our
growing and active alumni body is a
challenging and important task for us.
As one example, preparing, designing,
printing and mailing a single copy of
Cal Maritime costs us well over $2.
The wasted effort and cost of mailing to
just a few outdated addresses out of
thousands of names on our mailing list
can mount up quickly . That is why
it is vital that we keep our contact
information for each of you as accurate
as possible. Note too that we do
not sell alumni contact information to
any third parties.
