Day 25
Daily Log:
Not much has changed in the last two days. Watch, training and classes continue. Ship’s days are very routine, which is what a lot of
people like about going to sea.
You can tell that we are moving into winter. The weather is turning into periodic rain and overcast sky. As we have passed low pressure after low pressure, the wind
direction has moved completely around the ship twice in the last forty-eight hours.
The seas are a little angry and confused (or perhaps just confused observers) with the wind direction changing so
often. The temperature is dropping and, and except for the die-hards, shorts are being replaced by trousers as the garment of choice. Daylight hours are shorter the farther
south in latitude we travel. But spirits are high as the crew anticipates our arrival in Auckland in two days time.
The ship’s agent in Auckland has promised us nice weather while we are there and we’re going to hold her to it. Of course, “nice” may be a relative term to a New Zealander.
