Captain's Log
06/01/2004
The day started with a beautiful morning,
showing the passing of the stationary front to the south. By
1000, the sky was clear and the sun shinning brightly.
1100 brought the first sight of land, the
small Korean Island of Mara Do. As we got closer, the cadets
could see buildings and houses on the island. You could feel
the excitement build, as the ship slowly made it way closer
and closer to the entrance to Mokpo Gu, the narrow channel
that will lead the ship into Mokpo Hang, the harbor of Mokpo.
The charts are all prepared for a long
pilotage run through the many islands surrounding Mokpo. We
will enter the narrow passages about 0500 and navigate our way
through the islands until about 0730 when we will pick up our
harbor pilot. We should dock in Mokpo about 0830.
