The Cal Maritime Story
The California Maritime Academy is a unique campus of the California State University (CSU), located in Vallejo, CA. Cal Maritime students receive a education consisting of a mixture of classroom instruction, hands-on experience, international travel, and professional development. Cal Maritime is not a military campus. Graduates are prepared for successful careers in engineering, maritime policy, international business and logistics, technology, or in the maritime and transportation industries.
The only maritime academy on the West Coast, Cal Maritime is a leading education institution recognized for excellence in the business, engineering, operations, and policies of transportation and related industries of the Pacific Rim and beyond.
Mission Statement
The mission statement for Cal Maritime defines our purposes as an organization. Our educational community subscribes to the following statement of what we will do. Our mission is to:
- Provide each student with a college education combining intellectual learning, applied technology, leadership development, and global awareness.
- Provide the highest quality licensed officers and other personnel for the merchant marine and national maritime industries.
- Provide continuing education opportunities for those in the transportation and related industries.
- Be an information and technology resource center for the transportation and related industries.
Cal Maritime accepts admission applications beginning October 1 through November 30 (priority period) for the following fall semester. Applications received after December 1 will be considered (based on space availability).
