Greg Crum, the Academic Technologist of the Information Technology Department, is happy to assist faculty, staff and students with training on a variety of applications used at Cal Maritime. In addition,he provides pedagogical support for and system administration of the online course management system, WebCT.

Campus Applications
The list below highlights some of the major Campus Academic Technologies available for Cal Maritime Faculty and Staff . These are all accesible under the Campus Applications links in the upper right corner of this page.-
Webct
Our Campus Learning Management System(LMS). Each Semester course shells are automatically created for each section, mirroring the information posted in PeopleSoft. Faculty can access Tutorials and How to Guides on the WebCT Faculty page
Respondus
With Respondus instructors can easily create assessments. These assessments can be printed as stand-alone or be exported as Quizes , Self Tests or Surveys into WebCT. In addition Instructors can create banks of questions for future use and well as leverage questions provided by textbook publishers

Turnitin
Turnitin is a plagiarism prevention system that lets instructors quickly and effectively check a students work.Students submit their work to the Turnitin.com website by referencing a course and assignment ID provided by the instructor. Please reference the CMA Turnitin site for details on how to setup your Instructor account.

SchoolVue
SchoolVue is a tool that allows instructors to remotely control and view lab computers. It is installed on the Classroom (clsroom 105) and Lab building (lab 100) computer lab instructor machines. A quick start guide can be found on the CMA SchoolVue page

Online assignment assessment and e-portfolio tool. Currently in “beta” stages. See Vivienne Mcclendon for more information

Webex
Webex is a Web Conferencing and Collaboration tool that allows users to view , control and share computer desktops remotely. Cal Maritime has its own instance of Webex at csum.web.com With Webex you can.
- Host meetings remotely to an unlimited number of users
- Instantly share your computer screen with somone in another office, or other location
- Capture lectures or office hours and make them available for student review later on

The CSU Center For Distributed Learning has created Pachyderm 2.0. Pachyderm is an easy-to-use multimedia authoring tool. Designed for people who have little or no multimedia authoring experience, Pachyderm is accessed through a web browser and is as easy to use as filling out a web form.
