Mark Nickerson
Vice President for Administration
and Finance
Mark
Nickerson joined The California Maritime
Academy in August 2002 as Vice President
for Administration and Chief Financial
Officer. His responsibilities include
campus planning and development, budget
and financial oversight, human resources, contract
services, auxiliary operations, public
safety, information technology,
facilities operations, and risk and
emergency management. His outstanding management team is fully committed to providing the most effective and efficient services possible to the CMA community in a friendly, respectful and professional manner.
Prior to joining Cal Maritime, Mr.
Nickerson served as the CEO of CSU
East Bay's Contra Costa Campus and
Adjunct Professor of Public
Administration. He has also held
administrative posts at CSU Long Beach
and San Francisco State University.
Mr. Nickerson is the Founding
President of the National Association of
Branch Campus Administrators and is
active in the Western Association of
College and University Business
Officers. He serves on the California
State University Council of
Administrative and Business Officers and
various system-wide committees.
Mr. Nickerson has a B.A. in English
from San Francisco State University and
a Master’s Degree in Public
Administration from CSU, East Bay. He is
ABD in Higher Education Policy Studies
at UC, Berkeley.
Mr. Nickerson resides in the Glen
Cove district of Vallejo with his wife,
Augie Saulys, a physician at Children’s
Hospital of Oakland, and his beloved
Jack Russell Terrier, Zoe,
with whom he can be found fly fishing
the streams and lakes of Northern
California, Kamchatka, and the Canadian
Rockies as time permits.
