Crime Prevention and Personal Safety

  • Orientation presentations
  • Student Handbook-sections on community safety and crime prevention tips
  • Informational brochures
  • Safety notices/fliers posted around campus and residence halls
  • Timely notification of criminal activity in campus areas via the campus bulletin and campus newspaper and e-mail.
  • Increased patrols in student lots and residence halls
  • Operation I.D. Operation ID is highly visible crime prevention program designed to deter theft of valuable property from the Residence Halls. Students mark and register high valuable items such as laptop computer, desktop computers, cameras etc. The student keeps one copy of the registration form and Public Safety maintains one copy.
  • “If I Were a Thief…” Program. This program is designed to identify insecure door in the residence halls and in the student and faculty staff parking areas. If a door is noticed to be insecure, an officer hangs a door tag on the interior of the student room door and secures the door. If a vehicle is found insecure, a tag is placed on the seat of the vehicle and the door is then secured.
