COPPS Education & Prevention Programs
In the 2007 fiscal year, the Department will launch the Campus Oriented Partnership Policing Program. This new program expands the community oriented policing foundation by assigning specific officers to geographical areas throughout campus. These officers serve as liaisons with the campus community by providing a direct contact to campus constituents, conducting presentations and providing immediate feedback to address problems or concerns.

The Campus Public Safety Department will provide a walking escort to nearby residences or parking facilities upon request. These escorts are normally performed by trained student employees or security officers. To request an escort, call the security officer at 654-1176. When calling, please be prepared to provide the following information:

- Operation I.D. Operation ID is highly visible crime prevention program designed to deter theft of valuable property from the Residence Halls. Students mark and register high valuable items such as laptop computer, desktop computers, cameras etc. The student keeps one copy of the registration form and Public Safety maintains one copy.
“If I Were a Thief…” program. This program is designed to identify insecure door in the residence halls and in the student and faculty staff parking areas. If a door is noticed to be insecure, an officer hangs a door tag on the interior of the student room door and secures the door. If a vehicle is found insecure, a tag is placed on the seat of the vehicle and the door is then secured.
