Facilities and Access
Main Gate Access
The Main Gate to the California
Maritime Academy is closed at 6PM and
opens a 0500 hours during the week.
Security officers, augmented by the Student Gate Watch, control and limit access to the campus by
monitoring access at the gate. The
campus is secured during weekends and
when the campus is secured, the gate is closed 24 hours a day. These
hours are modified in the event of
public activities on campus. All students,
faculty and staff are issued a Cal
Maritime “Port Pass” I.D. - card upon enrollment or employment at the Academy. Students,
faculty and staff may access the gate
by using theie Port Pass in the "swipe card reader" which is located at the Main Gate, when the main
gate is not staffed. Campus visiting hours end at 11 PM each day. Students will
arrange with Public Safety for after
hour’s visitors to access the campus. Guests may then access the campus via a “call
box” located adjacent to the Gate House.
The call box system directly connects to
the Community Service Specialist’s cell
phone.
Access to Academic and Administrative
Buildings
The campus uses the "BEST Lock System" to secure all office and administrative buildings. Access to the Computer Lab/ Classroom and the Information Management Office, located in the Classroom Building, is controlled with a Port pass “swipe” card system.
Academic and administrative buildings
generally are secured no later than
10:00 pm Monday through Friday(except during special events
or extended classes). It is closed on wekends and holidays. The Student Centertion
of
the student center, which is secured at
midnight. Anyone working late or on
weekends may contact the on duty
Community Support Specialist (CSS).
Access to these buildings after normal
operating hours is restricted to persons
presenting written authorization from
the appropriate department head, or
through prior arrangements with the
appropriate administrator and the Public
Safety Department. Holiday access
scheduling is treated as weekend access.
Residence Halls
Trained Resident Assistant (RA) staff
live in the campus residence halls. In
the Upper Residence Hall, a three-story
brick facility, there is one RA for each
wing for a total of 5 RA’s. In the Lower
Residence Hall there are 5 RA’s (3
assigned to complex A, 1 assigned to
complex B and 2 assigned to complex C).
Access Policies for Residence Halls
Cal Maritime offers two traditional
residence halls and the Training Ship Gold en Bear, which provide on-campus
housing for over 400 students.
Access to student dorms is limited to
residents, escorted guests and staff.The
campus uses the "BEST Lock
Syste") to secure all office and
administrative buildings and Upper And Lower Residence Halls. Also access to the Upper Residence Hall, entry is
monitored on a 12-hour basis (after
normal working hours) via a “card key”
system on the front door, west and east doors.. Community
Service Specialists secure The Upper
Residence Hall at 10 p.m.
seven days a week.
Students are reminded and encouraged to
close doors that are propped open. Students should contact Public Safety if they
see suspicious persons in the hall Students must make locking their room door a habit.
Entry to the Lower Residence Hall is
controlled by keyed access to individual
rooms. There are no staffed desks at any
residence hall entrances However, Residential Asistants(RA's) are on duty during weeknights and weekends. RA's and Public Safety Oficers make joint tours of the dorm facilities nightly.
• Crime prevention tips and notices are
posted in the residence halls reminding
students of security and loss prevention
procedures.
• Community Service Officers and
Resident Assistants frequently patrol
the residence halls throughout the
night.
Maintenance of Campus Facilities
Facilities and landscaping are
maintained in a manner that minimizes
hazardous conditions. The officers
survey the campus and identify areas
that require trimming of shrubs in areas
that present personal safety
deficiencies and to prevent or limit the
opportunity for crime. The street
lighting system campus wide has been
drastically upgraded installing
additional lights in A, G and the E/F
Parking Lots.
Community Support Specialists regularly
conduct lighting surveys and report
lighting deficiencies and other unsafe
physical conditions to Facilities
Management.
Blue Light Emergency Phones
We have installed "Blue Light Emergency Phones" on CMA for your safety. The Blue Light phones are direct dial phones that are used to call Public Safety in an emergency situation. There is no need to dial a number. You just have to push the large red button on the phone and it will connect with the On Duty Officer. If the oficer doesnot answer, the phone directly goes to the Vallejo Police Department 911 Dispatcher.

Bodnar Field House(east Side)
Sports Court
Auto Hobby Shop (west Side)
Dining Hall(east Side)
Naval Science and Leadership North east Corner)
Student Center (north side entrance)
Courtesy Phones
We have installed “Courtesy Phones" at the front door/south entrance of the Upper
Residence Hall. Their is also a "Courtesy Phone in each housing section
of the Lower Residence Hall, You will also find a "courtyesy phone on the north side of the campus Adminidtration Building. each phone is capable of placing a call to any number on the campus. Community
Support Specialists regularly test the
phones submit requests for repair as
necessary.
Reporting Unsafe Conditions
All members of the campus community are
encouraged to report unsafe conditions
to Facilities Management or Public
Safety.
