The Leadership Gold Medal Award Program – Self-Portfolio Program

The Self-Portfolio Program is one of three components of the Leadership Gold Medal Award program.  The Self-Portfolio program is designed to provide cadets with a tool allowing them to record and track their personal and professional accomplishments at Cal Maritime.  These accomplishments will be directly linked to the Certification Program. 

The ability to maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of personal and professional accomplishments is an outstanding management tool required of most professionals.  It is a common place requirement for professionals to provide semi-annual or annual input regarding their accomplishments during an evaluation period.  Many supervisors hold their employees directly responsible for maintaining a self-record of their accomplishments and providing this at the end of their evaluation period.

Mastering this skill will better prepare cadets for entry into the workplace.  Additionally, the self-portfolio is an outstanding reference to assist with resume preparation.

Note:  Materials for the Self-Portfolio will be provided by the Leadership Development Department to all coaches for distribution to cadets participating in this program.  The Self-Portfolio will be divided into six parts – (1) Certificates of Completion; (2) Watch Performance and Evaluations; (3) Corps Performance Evaluations; (4) Assessments with Improvement Plans; (5) Unofficial Academic Transcripts and Conduct Reports; and (6) Self-Record of Accomplishments.
