Why Give?
The California Maritime Academy is a
unique resource for higher education
with state, regional, and national
responsibilities. While state funds form
the core of Cal Maritime's annual
budget, they cannot fully meet the needs
of a growing and vibrant institution.
Since joining The California State
University (CSU) system in 1996, Cal
Maritime has undergone substantial
growth:
-
in its programs;
-
in its physical plant;
-
and in the size of its student body
- now approaching 800 - an 80
percent hike in 8 years.
CSU's support has helped us grow.
-
Our $13 million Marine Simulation
Center is nearing completion
-
New residence hall space and a new
Athletic Center/Survival Training
facility are moving to planning and
contracting stages.
However, the Academy's success in
managing and guiding that growth relies
heavily on expanding private support.
Whether it is scholarships, departmental
and academic endowments to fund
departments and professorships,
equipping specialized labs and
workshops, or seed funding for new
initiatives, private funds provide an
invaluable flexibility and continuity of
support in a rapidly-changing world.
