Daily Log:
Arrival in Brisbane went as smoothly as could be. We arrived at the pilot station about 4 AM. It was a four-hour,
55 mile run up Moreton Bay to reach the Brisbane River mouth and another eight miles to our berth. The dock was still about seven miles down river from downtown, so we
hired 22-person shuttles to ferry us back and forth to the downtown area.
Brisbane is a large, clean city set against a river backdrop. Like Los Angeles, the city
extends for many miles outward from the downtown area. There is an incredible amount of things to see and do here including visiting Steve Irwin’s, “The Crocodile
Hunter” zoo located just outside Brisbane.
The beaches both north and south along the coast (Sunshine and Gold Coasts) are legendary and, located in Moreton Bay itself, are some of the largest sand islands in the world.
The weather was absolutely perfect here with highs in the low 70s and sunshine all day. Hot air balloons drifted over the city at about 1000 feet – one even square
shaped and colored like a huge house. Auntie M?
