Day  15

Daily Log:

Arrival  Tahiti

The ship arrived in Tahiti to mostly sunny warm  skies.  Papeete is the Capitol of French Ployniesa and the center of trade  for the area.  The island of Moorea lies about 1 mile off of Tahiti and has  mountain peaks that jet into the sky as the ship made its approach to the  harbor.

T h e Cadet  Watch Officer checks his pre-arrival list before boarding the pilot. Ports  around the world require a pilot to safely guide ships to their anchorage or  pier.

Cadet Watch Officers Fry and Cooper ensure that the  quartermaster follows commands issued by the Pilot.

The  students all gathered on the o4 deck to watch as the ship slowly entered the  harbor and tied up down town at the passenger ship terminal.

Tying the ship  up can be made a little tricky when the vessel ahead is 30 ft. away.

After about an  hour of customs and immigrations clearance, everyone was clear to go ashore  and explore the island.  A ferry runs hourly to the island of Moorea where  many plan to go.
