Studies focus on the operation, maintenance, and management of engineering plants and facilities. Instruction covers all aspects of energy systems. Topics include mechanical and electrical systems, air conditioning, fluids, heating, power, and ventilation.
Facilities Engineering Technology Emphasis
Emphasis in the FET program is placed on applied practice combined with analytical methods.
Hands-On Training
The California Maritime Academy is an accredited four-year institution, which is technical in nature. In addition to required academic classes in Facilities Engineering Technology, all students get hands-on training and experience in main and auxiliary engineering systems.
Each summer, Facilities Engineering Technology students must complete two months of practical training. They spend their first summer learning engineering systems aboard the Training Ship GOLDEN BEAR and the following two summers working with practicing facilities engineers at local companies.
