Marine Engineering Technology

Studies focus on the operation, maintenance, and management of engineering plants. Instruction covers all aspects of energy facilities. Topics include mechanical and electrical systems, air conditioning, fluids, heating, power, propulsion, and ventilation.

Marine Engineering Technology Emphasis

Emphasis in the MET program is placed on applied practice combined with analytical methods. This program is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Hands-On Training

The California Maritime Academy is an accredited four-year institution, which is technical in nature. In addition to required academic classes in Marine Engineering Technology, all students get hands-on training and experience in main and auxiliary engineering systems.

Each summer, Marine Engineering Technology students must complete a two-month sea voyage aboard the Training Ship GOLDEN BEAR or a commercial merchant vessel, depending on their class status and GPA.
