A new tape backup system was been ordered at the end of 2007. The old tape backup system required 24 to 28 hours and would run out of tape. The new system takes only 2 to 4 hours to perform the same backups. We also discontinued Iron Mountain’s electronic backup (at $1600/month, we calculated the ROI of the tape backup system to be 9 months). We will continue to using Iron Mountain’s offsite tape storage service. With the new backup system, however, we are encrypting the tapes.
