History and Philosophy

Shortly after The Nikki Hospice Foundation for Pets had begun to take shape, a second tragedy occurred. The Marocchinos' newly-adopted little tortoise-shell tabby Tatiana--who had mysteriously entered their lives on the eve of Nikki's passing--was struck and killed by a vehicle. Stunned and grieving, they decided to honor her memory by creating the Tatiana Pet Memorial Fund and placing it under the sponsorship of The NHFP. Thus, when pet owners who have lost a beloved animal find themselves searching for a pet cemetery, The Tatiana Pet Memorial Fund can help them locate an adequate burial service provider in their vicinity. Eventually, the founders hope to be able to provide financial assistance, through donations, to indigent pet owners who need funding for burial services, thereby covering any costs associated with interment or cremation. In this manner, whether through hospice care and burial services or simply through one or the other, the cycle of caring comes full circle.
