I know all of
you will be really happy to hear, but the next few days are
going to be awesome for celestial! With the exception of
some mid-level to high-level clouds coming up from the
tropics we should have clear skies. There are a couple of
different thoughts on what the wind is going to be doing but
it should be off our stern and eventually calming as we near
port. Look for the temperature to continue to climb into
the high seventies to eighties by the time we reach port on
the 8th. So keep the sunscreen on and those
sextants out for the next few days.
Meteorologists: Bud McKay and Paul Warner assisted by Evan
Osborn

Every six hours the ship's weather observations are sent to
NOAA over one of the vessel's communications systems. Above,
cadets McKay, Warner and Osborn are transferring their
observations into to code that can be sent using a satellite
based telex system.
