meteorologists! More fabulous weather on the way for our
first port, temps in low 80’s in the evening and warming to
the upper 80’s low 90’s during the day. . West winds a
gentle 4-5 mph in the morning building to <15 mph in the
afternoons and a few clouds may be overhead, but not to
worry they should be passing. Enjoy your port time.

Cadet Göhre and Cadet Hubbard refilling the reservoir for
wet bulb thermometer. The comparison between the wet bulb
and the dry bulb thermometer allows the mariner to calculate
dew point, or how much water vapor is present in the air.
When the wet bulb and dry bulb temperatures are close, watch
out for fog. Fog is rare in the equatorial regions, but as
the Golden Bear heads down the coast toward Chile the cadets
will be able to predict when fog will form.
