“They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters, these see the works of the lord and his wonders in the deep”

We gather today in memory of Mark O. Sekelick, shipmate, born on Aug 21st, 1955 and past away on May 14, 2006.  Many of us knew Mark very well, some only for a short while, but we all share the bond of shipmate, for Mark sailed on these oceans and his feet stood on these deck plates and like those who sailed before us, and those who will sail after us, we are bound together by the sea.

The crew of the Training Ship Golden Bear is here today to bid a fond farewell to our shipmate Mark.  Fair wind and following seas.  And as Mark would want it.  “No Worries Mate”, we will see you again.

O Lord support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done.  Then, grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last.

(Eternal Father)
