Captain's Log

July 20, 2006

The trip along the coast of Peru has been highlighted by the numerous fishing vessels, whales, dolphins and marine birds.  At times the water boils with the feeding of the fish and our fishing on board has been greatly improved in these waters.

Up-welling along the coast of Peru, brings cooler water and many nutrients to the surface level and make the fish population huge.  The food chain seems endless.

At night, there are more fishing vessels than can be counted.  All of this provides one of the major exports of Peru, fishmeal.  This also provides good training for the bridge watch standers.
