Captain's Log

05/14/2007

Captain’s Log:

For some, Sunday, is a day of rest.  Aboard a ship, and if there are essential repairs, the R’n’R has to wait.

 We had another Barbeque Sunday.

The weather has been considerably nicer.   The seas and swell have started to flatten out.  And the winds have died down.

A Sunday meal, outside, on the fantail is a tradition at The California Maritime Academy.  I graduated from the academy in 1984 and can remember having barbeques back then.  It is a time when many can relax, even if it is only, for a short period of time.

All three of these photos show an extremely dedicated engineering team working on a “Wrinkled Belly”, Flex Joint for the starboard main engine turbo.  To 1st Class Cadets Merlonghi and Fairchild (and the other Cadets who assisted) thanks for your dedication and hard work!  You have all demonstrated exactly what professionalism means.

To all the Moms out there we wish you the Happiest Mother’s Day ever.

To my Mom, I say, “Happy Mother’s Day”   To my wife, Karin, what a great

Mom you are!!!  Just look into the faces of our children…….
