Captain's Log
06/17/2007
Sunday at sea is usually just another
work day, but today was a little different. About 1100, an
island appeared on the horizon. By noon, we were within a
mile of Wake Island, looking at the small boat harbor and
the lagoon. By 1300, the island was drifting aft and over
the horizon, but just in time for the Sinbad Games to
begin. The students competed in all types of nautical and
strength related events by division to see who could
organize the best teams.
The end of the days events was one of
our famous Barbeques at sea with Chicken, short ribs, bakes
beans, Veggie burgers, Corn on the Cob, and to top
everything off, just as the BBQ‘s were lit, one of the
students caught a ONO, about 30 inches long. Within 30
minutes, the ono was cleaned, spiced, and on the grill.
Freshest fish between Wake Island and Midway Island.
The night is slowing down, but some of
the students are still on the Fantail, listening to music
and watching the last of the sunset.
