Cal Maritime Ranked #1 Nationally for Alumni Earnings, #6 Baccalaureate College, and #7 "Bang for the Buck" by Washington Monthly
(Vallejo, California – August 27, 2018) – Washington Monthly's College Guide once again ranks California State University Maritime Academy highly for overall contribution to the public good, bang for the buck, and alumni earnings.
In the overall rankings which rated schools on their contribution to the public good, Cal Maritime ranked sixth among all baccalaureate colleges nationally. The rankings are based on three categories: recruiting and graduating low-income students; producing cutting-edge scholarship; and encouraging students to give back to their country.
Among baccalaureate colleges in the west, Cal Maritime ranked seventh overall in the publication's "bang for the buck" rankings. These rankings reflect the degree to which schools help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices. The publication also ranked the school #1 nationally in "earnings performance" for alumni.
"I am always proud to see the hard work of our students, faculty, and staff recognized in national rankings, but seeing that Cal Maritime is the top-rated university for alumni earnings in an analysis of social mobility is a significant point of pride for the University," said Cal Maritime President Thomas Cropper.
Money magazine recently ranked the school as one of America's best public colleges. The U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard ranks Cal Maritime first among public California universities for graduate earnings 10 years after enrollment. The Academy is also one of only 15 four-year colleges in the U.S. to receive a perfect score for "value added" to student outcomes in a study by the Brookings Institute.
