(Vallejo, California – November 9, 2017) – A free screening of the film The Longest Road will be held in Cal Maritime's Rizza Auditorium on Tuesday, November 21.
In the film, a group of American Veterans struggle in the aftermath of serving in
an unresolved war. Iraqi War veteran Richard Campos, Vietnam veteran Stan Rapada,
and Gold Star father Kevin Graves venture to the front lines of combat to witness
the atrocities that ISIS has committed against some two million refugees in the Northern
Iraqi region of Kurdistan. Along the way, they encounter Dr. Nemam Ghafouri, a former
refugee herself, who now runs a medical clinic near the Syrian border. Together they
change the lives of countless minorities who have suffered from religious persecution.
First-time filmmaker Jennifer Salcido taught Political Science at the University
of Dohuk in Kurdistan. Documentarian Matthew Charles Hall is an Orange County native.
A reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. followed by the film at 6:00 p.m. A Q&A with
cast and crew will follow the movie.
