Cal Maritime Day on the Bay is back! After a two-year hiatus, we are excited to announce Day on the Bay will take place on board the Training Ship Golden Bear, Sunday, October 9, 2022.

  • Due to the limited availability of tickets, registration is now closed.

Join us for an exciting day on the San Francisco Bay onboard the Training Ship Golden Bear to celebrate fleet week and enjoy a front row seat at the U.S. Navy Blue Angels airshow.

Continental breakfast, live music, lunch and an assortment of snacks are included in the ticket price. Wine and beer will be available for purchase.

Due to the popularity of this event, the waiting list is now closed.  No changes to guest names or refunds are allowed after September 28.

 

IDENTIFICATION

A government-issued ID will be required to show upon check-in. Each guest must have a valid government-issued photo ID (only exception are minor children, ages 10* to 17, attending with registered guardian).

*NOTE: The minimum age requirement for children to board the ship for Day on the Bay is 10. Children younger than 10 will not be allowed to board the ship.

 

WEATHER AND ATTIRE

It should be a beautiful, sunny day, in the high 60s by afternoon, but we strongly recommend that guests wear a few layers since it can be cool in the morning and evening. We recommend that guests wear pants (jeans are acceptable), layered tops and comfortable closed-toed, flat shoes. No heels, flip flops, or open-toed shoes are allowed on the ship. Sunscreen is recommended.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Folding chairs optional (chairs will be available in designated locations)
  • Layered clothing
  • Smoking is not permitted on the ship, no illegal drugs, smoking, firearms, or alcohol can be brought on board.
  • Bags will be subject to search
  • MUST have a photo i.d.
  • MUST be able to walk a gang plank
  • The ship is not ADA accessible (No crutches or wheelchairs as guests have to be able to climb gangway and stairs to access event space, food, and restrooms)
  • No children under the age of 10 will be allowed on the ship

By participating in Cal Maritime’s Day on the Bay activities, which take place aboard the Training Ship GOLDEN BEAR, you are acknowledging that there are risks posed by activities taking place onboard the Training Ship GOLDEN BEAR, in the water adjacent the Training Ship GOLDEN BEAR, and in the air above the Training Ship GOLDEN BEAR. These activities can be hazardous and participants assume all related risks both known or unknown related to viewing the San Francisco Fleet Week Air Show from aboard the Training Ship GOLDEN BEAR. RELEASE OF LIABILITY: You hereby release from all liability and promise not to sue the State of California, the Trustees of The California State University, California State University, Maritime Academy and their employees, officers, directors, volunteers and agents (collectively “University”) from any and all claims, including claims of the University’s negligence, resulting in any physical or psychological injury (including paralysis and death), illness, damages, or economic or emotional loss you may suffer because of your participation in Day on the Bay.

Exit onto I-80 west toward San Francisco
Exit right one exit past Magazine Street and down to light on Rt. 29 Sonoma Boulevard.
Straight across Sonoma Blvd (Hwy 29) onto Maritime Academy Drive and follow road downhill.

FROM SACRAMENTO:
West on I-80 toward San Francisco
Exit right one exit past Magazine Street and down to light on Rt. 29 Sonoma Boulevard.
Straight across Sonoma Blvd (Hwy 29) onto Maritime Academy Drive and follow road downhill.

FROM SAN FRANCISCO, OAKLAND:
East on I-80 toward Sacramento
Cross Carquinez Bridge (use right toll lanes) toll is $4.00
Immediately after toll, exit right onto Sonoma Blvd (Hwy 29)
Left at first stop light onto Maritime Academy Drive
Follow Maritime Academy Drive downhill.

FROM BENICIA BRIDGE:
East I-780
Exit onto I-80 west toward San Francisco
Exit right one exit past Magazine Street and down to light on Rt. 29 Sonoma Boulevard.
Straight across Sonoma Blvd (Hwy 29) onto Maritime Academy Drive and follow road downhill.

Day on the Bay TENTATIVE Schedule

  • 8:00 a.m. Check-in - All aboard no later than 8:30 a.m. SHARP
  • 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Cruise around San Francisco Bay
  • Anchor off Treasure Island to view the Fleet Week Air Show and Blue Angels
  • 6:00 p.m. Arrive at Cal Maritime
