Hi Everyone!

I'm excited to be your new Director of Learning and Information Technologies here at Cal Maritime. I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome I've received so far. I've been asked to post a brief bio about myself, so here goes:

I started out in the technology field in aerospace many years ago. During that time, I was asked to teach at the local community college in Santa Maria, CA. I found that I loved working in education - particularly academic technology.  Since then, I've worked as an IT manager for the County of Santa Barbara, and a Help Desk Manager on contract for the California Army National Guard in San Luis Obispo, CA, where I also taught at Cal Poly for their Information Technology certificate program. After that, I taught eighth grade for five years which was one of my more challenging, but rewarding endeavors.

Most recently, I worked as an Instructional Designer at Humboldt State University, where I built over sixty online courses for the Social Work Masters program, conducted ongoing faculty workshops, and spearheaded the initiative to incorporate video into hybrid and online instruction.  I have a Master of Science in Instructional Science and Technology, two teaching credentials (multiple subjects and computer business applications), and a good amount of knowledge on how to integrate pedagogy with technology.  My husband Bob and I live in Vacaville with our two lazy cats, and we have three grown daughters, one of whom is expecting our first grandchild in mid-September.

My primary focus at CSUM is the support of faculty in online, hybrid, and F2F instruction. In other words, I'm here to advocate for you and to support you.  If you have a minute, please check out our new website for Academic Technology:  https://www.csum.edu/web/academic-technologies/home

Please let me know how I can help you, and I look forward to working with you.  Better yet, feel free to call or stop in and say hello!
