Housing & Residential Life
On behalf of the Office of Housing & Residential Life, I would like to welcome you to Cal Maritime! The information contained on this site provides important information regarding the University Housing program and the on-campus housing experience, which is unique to California State University Maritime Academy.
Cal Maritime recognizes that learning takes place both in and out of the classroom. Housing & Residential Life is committed to creating inclusive communities and providing a residential living/learning environment that directly supports the educational, social, and personal development of each student. Our goal is to provide opportunities in tune with Cal Maritime's mission to provide each student with a college education combining intellectual learning, applied technology, leadership development, and global awareness.
Our office strives to create communities which support the academic goals of Cal Maritime, maintain student safety, promote campus engagement, and encourage student growth. We reach our mission through the work of the Residence Hall Officers, Living Learning Community Mentors, housing programming initiatives, collaboration with other departments, and policy creation.
Cal Maritime is a residential campus- all students are required to live on campus and participate in a meal plan throughout the duration of their education at Cal Maritime. You will find more information regarding this policy and exemptions on the tab regarding our Off-Campus Policy.
Cal Maritime's uniqueness in this nature, along with the stated residential policy, is why the institution has maintained this philosophy throughout the years. We support research in higher education that indicates that living and being involved in student life on campus is in the best interest for students to be successful in both their academic career and their personal development as students.
We are excited to have you here and look forward to a great year!
Kate Kimble-Tuszynski, Director of Housing & Residential Life
