Apply to be a member of the Housing & Residential Life team for 2017-2018!

Thank you for your interest in applying for the Living Learning Community Mentor (LLCM) or Residence Hall Officer (RHO) position. Being a LLCM or RHO is an opportunity for Cal Maritime cadets to be leaders in their residential communities, making a difference in the lives of the students they serve. Applications are now available online. Online applications are due no later than 2359 on Friday, January 27th, 2017. Reference forms are due to the Office of Housing and Residential Life no later than 1600 on Friday, February 3rd, 2017.

Qualifications of a Residence Hall Officer and Living Learning Community Mentor

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have lived on campus for the current academic year.
  • Must have completed 30 academic units by time of appointment (Fall 2017 semester).
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the beginning of the Fall 2017 semester.
  • Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing. The Office of Housing and Residential Life will check conduct history.
  • Must be in good financial standing with the university.
  • May not accumulate more than 25 demerits during term of employment (August 2017 - April 2018).
  • Must attend Spring 2017 Student Leadership Retreat (March 24th-26th, 2017).
  • Must attend Fall & Winter Trainings (Tentative dates in early August and early January).
  • Must be able to attend weekly staff meetings every Monday from 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm (day and time subject to change).

Interview Process


Selected candidates must complete a 30 minute individual interview with a panel of current housing staff members. After applications close on Friday, January 27th, 2017, candidates will receive an email notification from Housing and Residential Life professional staff on the status of their application. Selected candidates who qualify to move forward in the selection process will receive an email on how to schedule an individual interview. 

Selected candidates must also participate in the Group Process Day. The Group Process Day is a series of activities where candidates are placed in small groups (10-12 students) and asked to complete various tasks or objectives. During the activities, candidates are observed to see how candidates interact with others and the roles each candidate takes within a group. Group Process Day is Saturday, February 11th, 2017 from 0830-1200. Attire for all interviews is business casual.
