Do you know the signs of mental illness? Do you have the skills to help others in psychological distress? You're invited to a professional development training in Mental Health First Aid where you'll gain the knowledge and competencies to help students and others in distress. This internationally-recognized and award-winning program "is an in-person training that teaches you how to help people developing a mental illness or in a crisis." (read more here). I am offering this 8-hour, full-day training to Cal Maritime employees free of charge on Friday January 20th from 0830-1700 in Compass Room #1 (lunch included) . The maximum number of participants is 25. Having delivered this training many times I assure you that becoming MHFA-certified is a rewarding experience that will not only increase your ability to help others but help you feel more comfortable doing so.
