FB1 National Suicide Prevention Week 2016 FB1

Did you know that, in the United States, more people die by suicide (50% more!) each year than by homicide? Experts believe that most suicidal individuals do not want to die. They just want to end the pain they are experiencing. When suicidal intent or risk is detected early, lives can be saved. September 5th through September 11th is National Suicide Prevention Week. Please join Cal Maritime in supporting suicide prevention. Together we can reduce the number of lives shaken by a needless and tragic death.

  • Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among 15 to 24-year-olds.
  • Every year in the United States, more than 21,300 men and women kill themselves with a gun; twothirds more than the number who use a gun to kill another person.
