 Benefit Highlights for 2016

Open enrollment starts September 14 and ends October 9. It is your once-a-year opportunity to review options and make additions, changes or deletions to your benefits for 2016.  You can enroll, change or cancel CalPERS health, dental, vision, Flexcash, Dependent Care Reimbursement (DCRA), Health Care Reimbursement (HCRA) or voluntary benefits plans.

Our goal is to keep you well informed about new and existing benefit options. You will be receiving a variety of communications about benefits before and during the open enrollment period. During this time we encourage you to review the information, visit provider websites and contact your campus benefits office if you have questions.

Health Plan Options – CalPERS will continue to offer the same health plans in 2016.   The specific plan details and change in service areas can be viewed on the CalPERS website at: www.calpers.ca.gov.  The premiums for health plans will be adjusted for 2016 to reflect the change in health care costs. Please reference the 2016 Health Plan rates at 2016 Health Plan Rates.  Please make sure to review the new rates to know your contribution for 2016.

Delta Dental - We are pleased to continue offering eligible CSU employees and dependents dental coverage through Delta Dental. There are two plans available: Delta Dental PPO and DeltaCare USA. The monthly premiums for these plans are fully paid by the CSU and can be reviewed at 2016 Dental Plan Summary.

Vision Plan – You and your eligible dependents are automatically enrolled in the VSP vision plan. Monthly premiums are fully paid by CSU!  Eye care is an important component of an individual's overall health and well-being. For more information about this plan, please visit www.vsp.com/.

Flexible Spending Accounts – With a Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA) and/or Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA) you set aside a portion of your pay on a pre-tax basis to reimburse yourself for eligible expenses. If you are currently enrolled in the (DCRA) and/or (HCRA), and wish to continue participation in the plan(s), you are required to re-enroll annually during open enrollment. Please use the form found at DCRA/HCRA Enrollment Form 2016 Plan Year for 2016 enrollments.

Voluntary Benefits – CSU offers a variety of voluntary benefits beyond health and wellness that are important parts of managing your life. You pay for the premiums for these plans through payroll deductions.
