The CSU annual Open Enrollment period takes placeSeptember 9 through October 4, 2019. Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to review and update your current benefits for the upcoming year. You can enroll, change or cancel CalPERS health, dental, vision, Flexcash, Dependent Care Reimbursement (DCRA), Health Care Reimbursement (HCRA) or voluntary benefits plans.
CSU will be offering pet insurance through nationwide for dogs, cats, small mammals and eligible exotic animals.
Nationwide has two benefit options that assist members with costs associated with pet expenses.
Special Enrollment Period for Accidental and Critical Illness Insurance (Early 2020)
This is to announce that as a result of a Request for Proposal (RFP) recently conducted by the CSU, The Standard Life Insurance was awarded the contract for Critical Illness and a new Accident Insurance plan. As part of the transition, Aflact will no longer be enrolling new participants in the Critical Illness plan.
A special enrollment period will be held in early 2020. Current Aflac participants may stay with Aflac via direct pay or transfer to the new coverage with The Standard in 2020. More information will be provided at a later date.
Dental Plan Change Highlights for 2020
New Voluntary Enhanced Coverage (Non-FERP Annuitants) - Effective in 2020, Non-FERP annuitants will have the option to enroll in voluntary enhanced dental coverage for an additional fee. All coverage levels and plan benefits will remain the same for the 2020 plan year.

When you visit a PPO dentist, your diagnostic and preventative services (cleanings and exams) will not count against your annual maximum.

SmileWay Wellness Benefit is an enhanced coverage for higher risk employees. Employees with these qualifying diagnosed medical conditions (diabetes, heart disease, HIV/AIDS, rheumatoid arthritis or stroke) may benefit from expanded coverage such as additional periodontal cleanings covered at 100%. In order to use this great enhancement or for more information, employees will need to opt in by going todeltadentalins.com/csu. Log in to the Online Services account - if you do not have one, click "Register". Click on the Optional Benefits tab in the left column, then click on Opt In next to the name of the person they want to enroll, complete and submit the form. Employees may also sign up by phone at (888) 335-8227 to speak to a Customer Service representative Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 8:00pm, Pacific Standard Time.
Health Plan Reminders
You will receive new health plan ID cards if you change your health plan or enroll for the first time.
If you change plans during Open Enrollment and you do not see the correct deduction applied by your February pay warrant, contact the Department of Human Resources.
If you change your health plans, do not continue to use your previous health plan after December 31, 2019.
