The California Maritime Academy Library eReader Loan Program contributes to the Library's mission of supporting the educational curricula and programs of the campus. The Library's eReaders will include content that both supports the curriculum and fosters the love of reading. CMA students, faculty and staff are welcome to check out Kindle and Nook devices.
The devices may be checked out at the Circulation Desk. Devices will circulate for seven days (one week). The devices cannot be reserved in advance and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. An Equipment Loan Agreement must be on record in order to check out devices. Devices must be returned during regular Library Hours to the Circulation desk only; do not place devices in the outside book drop.
The California Maritime Academy Library manages the content and applications on the devices. The device are preloaded with a selection of reading on a broad range of topics. Patrons may request a title to be acquired and loaded onto a device. The library does not acquire textbooks as per our Collection Development Policy. Any materials loaded onto eReaders will be deleted on return.
Fines & Liability
Patrons are responsible for damaged and lost devices or parts. Any damage to the equipment will be noted on the patrons record and billed accordingly. Replacement cost of a damaged or lost Kindle - $250 Nook - $300 The overdue fine is $10.00 per day or any part of a day. Until fines or replacement fees are paid, the patron's CMA account will be blocked.
