Tutoring Services

The mission of Tutoring Services is to empower cadets to become self-motivated and active learners while fostering confidence and independence in a collaborative learning environment. Our goal is to help students gain subject competence to promote academic success and support persistence by providing tutoring services that are:

  • Learner-centered, increasing cadet engagement in the learning process and greater understanding of tutored courses

  • Integrity-based, ensuring delivery of services that uphold high academic standards

  • Service-oriented, serving diverse cadet populations and reducing barriers for cadet success by responding to their unique learning needs

  • Supportive, providing a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for cadets and continued learning and tutoring skill development opportunities for the tutors

Trained peer tutors are present five nights per week in multiple Tutoring Labs for FREE drop-in tutoring services. Tutoring by appointment is also available for students who feel that they would benefit from more individualized support, or who cannot attend tutoring during the evening hours.

Please note that Tutoring Services employs a "hands-off" approach, which means that tutors are advised to avoid writing or making comments directly on a student's paper. The role of the tutor is to provide support in developing the strategies necessary to learn independently and be academically successful. Under no circumstances will a tutor complete a student's work for them.
