The Student Section of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (Cal Maritime-SNAME) is a professional society that provides a forum for Cal MaritimeCadets where the advancement of the engineering profession as applied to the marine field can be studied and discussed.
The main purpose of Cal Maritime-SNAME is to strengthen the bond between Cal Maritime and marine engineering firms in the Bay Area. The Student Section serves as a venue where students explore naval architecture, off-shore platform structures, IMO regulatory policies, and current research & development in: ship structures, ship designs, and marine systems. Cal Maritime-SNAME also serves to expose Cal Maritime's campus and Cal Maritime's student body to the representatives of the marine engineering industry.
The Cal Maritime's Student Section of SNAME was founded in May, 2010 by ME Cadet Piotr Orzechowski. It is sponsored by the Northern California Section of SNAME. Materials, publications, and regulatory documents are sent from SNAME's New Jersey headquarters.
Interested Cadets and prospective Fall-applicants should contact Cal Maritime-SNAME's Staff Officer, Cadet William Antrobus, at email@example.com
