The 2019 edition of U.S. News and World Report's Best Colleges is out, and California State University Maritime Academy is ranked first among public colleges in the western region. Former USMMA Leadership Director Named Commandant of Cadets Historic Ship Coming to Cal Maritime
Washington Monthly's College Guide once again ranks California State University Maritime Academy highly for overall contribution to the public good, bang for the buck, and alumni earnings.
 
David Taliaferro, former director of leadership development at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), is the new Commandant of Cadets at California State University Maritime Academy. 
 
California State University Maritime Academy's 500-foot Training Ship Golden Bear has returned to the campus and departed for dry dock maintenance, but the pier at Cal Maritime's campus won't remain empty for long. The SS Red Oak Victory, the last surviving ship built at the Kaiser Richmond Shipyards during World War II is scheduled to be docked at the campus from July 9 until early August.
