Cal State East Bay Administrator Named Interim Student Affairs VP
(Vallejo, California – June 15, 2018) – Stan Hebert has been named Cal Maritime's interim vice president for Student Affairs. Hebert has extensive experience, having served in various leadership roles at California State University, East Bay, including associate vice president of Student Affairs, dean of Students, and acting vice president of Student Affairs.
During his time at Cal State East Bay, he was responsible for Associated Students, the Student Union, Student Development, Judicial Affairs, Student Life, and Leadership Programs. He also oversaw the parent and family programs, the transfer student program, Veteran Student Services, the Educational Opportunity Program, and other initiatives.
"I am confident that Stan Hebert will provide steady and uninterrupted leadership to our students and the student affairs professionals that support them," said Cal Maritime President Tom Cropper.
Prior to his tenure at Cal State East Bay, Hebert directed the Student Affairs Career Center at Cal Poly and spent several years at CSU Dominguez Hills in various capacities.
"I'm excited to be joining a campus with such a unique mission and innovative leadership team," said Hebert.
Beyond higher education, Hebert is connected to the local community and has extensive civic engagement experience, including having served as a board member for the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce; on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee for the City of Hayward; education commissioner for California's 47th Assembly District; and board treasurer for the East Oakland Youth Development Center.
Hebert has an MBA in marketing from UCLA, and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Cal State East Bay (formerly CSU, Hayward).
An official search for a permanent vice president will begin later this year.
