(Vallejo, California – February 9, 2018) – Vice Admiral Robin Braun, former chief of the Navy Reserve, will be the keynote speaker at Cal Maritime's Women in Maritime Leadership Conference on March 2-3.

In her role with the Navy Reserve, Braun – now retired – led a force of more than 60,000 men and women in support of the Navy, Marine Corps, and Joint Force. Braun will speak on leadership skills, challenges, and opportunities – especially as they relate to young women who are beginning or navigating career opportunities in nontraditional career fields.

"I am excited to participate in Cal Maritime's 7th Annual Women's Leadership Conference and share strategies for personal and professional success," said Braun. "The opportunity for women to lead in the maritime industry has never been greater than in today's global marketplace. This conference will inspire and motivate young leaders as they develop their own personal leadership style."

Designated a Naval Aviator in 1981, Braun flew over 5,800 flight hours in a variety of Naval aircraft during her career.  In addition to worldwide squadron assignments, she served with Carrier Strike Group 10 supporting the USS Harry S. Truman and Joint Task Force Katrina, was assigned to the Chief of Naval Operations staff and Joint Staff at the Pentagon, and served as Deputy Commander Navy Recruiting Command and Deputy Director of Operations at U. Braun and her husband Mike reside in Gig Harbor, Washington.
