Cal Maritime accepts applications for admission submitted through CalState Apply accessible at www.calstate.edu/apply.

  • Fall 2025 applications for admission are accepted from October 1 to June 1 for the following majors:
    • Business Administration - International Business and Logistics
    • International Strategy and Security
    • Facilities Engineering Technology 
    • Marine Engineering Technology 
    • Marine Transportation
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Oceanography

Submit an admission application online at www.calstate.edu/apply. Payment of a $70 application fee is required to submit the application unless you are granted a fee waiver through the applications automated fee waiver evaluation.

Regular Admission applications will be reviewed based on when the application was received.

Applications received between November 1 and December 2 will receive an admission decision by February 1. Applications received after December 2 will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

What are the academic requirements for First-Time Freshmen?

  • At least a 2.50 cumulative GPA for A-G courses taken in grades 10-12 at California high schools* or at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA for A-G equivalent courses in grades 10-12 at high schools outside California.*
  • A grade of "C-" or better in each of the required college prep (A-G) courses  listed in the table below. These can be completed in any year from 9th grade through high school graduation.
  • High school graduation before full-time college enrollment.
  • Note that the SAT and ACT are not part of the admission evaluation process for Spring 2024 or Fall 2024 applicants. No determination has yet been made for later applicants.

* Students from California high schools with a GPA between 2.00 and 2.49 and students from high schools outside California with a GPA between 2.47 and 2.99 may be admitted by considering the following additional factors:

  • courses taken in excess of A-G category minimums listed below
  • residents of Solano County
  • participation in JROTC, Sea Cadets, Boy/Girl Scouts, EXP Future, or other leadership-oriented programs
  • students with work or maritime experience
  • veterans
  • minors with no parents
