New Training Ship | Preparing to Home Port

Cal Maritime is working to prepare for our brand-new training ship to come home. The National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV) program is a series of five purpose-built ships to serve dual roles as an emergency response vessel and as a training platform for future mariners. Our ship, the fifth, is scheduled to arrive at Cal Maritime November of 2026. Learn more about the NSMV program.

BB&PE: Boat Basin & Pier Expansion

Located on lower campus, between the historic boat house and the Carquinez strait, the Boat Basin and Pier Expansion (BB&PE) project has the primary objective of serving Cal Maritime cadets. This area will see extensive changes over the next few years as we prepare to home port the NSMV-V.

This effort brings together over 22 consultants and subject matter experts, 11 state and federal agencies, Cal Maritime leadership, CSU leadership, US Department of Transportation Maritime Administration (MARAD), cadets, faculty, and staff all in the effort to welcome home our new ship.

Currently we are in the design and engineering phase, consultations with the 11 state and federal agencies are ongoing and a major milestone of publishing our Environmental Review documents in the second quarter of 2024.
