Earn college credit without admission
Open University allows prospective students and community members to participate in regular university classes on a space available basis at The California State University Maritime Academy without formal admission.
Classes taken through Open University at Cal Maritime may apply toward your professional skills, your personal interests, or a future degree.
Take Cal Maritime credit courses without being admitted to the University. No transcripts (unless enrolling in courses that have pre-requisites), applications, or other documentation are required.
If you have been disqualified from Cal Maritime or denied admission because of a grade
point deficiency, you can enroll through Open University and improve your grade point
average .
Start accumulating credits, which can apply toward your degree once you are admitted
to Cal Maritime.
A maximum of 24 semester units earned through Open University in a non-matriculated status may be applied toward a bachelor's degree.
Program Fees: The fee for Open University is $420 per unit.
Who can enroll in Open University?
- Students who have been disqualified from Cal Maritime or other institutions
- Former Cal Maritime students and alumni
- Non-resident students not enrolled in a University program
- Members of the general public
To view course availability, click here for the GUEST LOGIN to PeopleSoft, Cal Maritime's Student System. Be sure to select the current term. For courses offered between the months of September through December, select Fall term; courses offered between January through April, select Spring term.
