Ahoy!

For our first port, San Diego sure was busy! Our first day upon arrival included a vessel audit, a reception, and recruitment tours. Day two included more business - a second reception, more tours, and bunkering (getting fuel) - but was a little more fun. We had a visit from San Diego NBC 7, so you may have seen us on the 11:00 AM news! Next, a group of cadets and crew got to visit the USS Midway Museum thanks to a generous donation of free admission from Docent Elliot Moses (SS Islander Sea Scout Ship 16 out of Marina Del Rey) and received a fabulous tour guided by Docent Angie Ginn and team. Another group went scuba diving and visited Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and another group went to the Padres game at Petco Park! All in all it was a great couple days and we can't wait to visit again in the future.

Newspaper

To our pleasant surprise, we ended up on the front page of the Monday morning paper!

Media Interview

Captain Bannister and 3/C Cadet Jacob Idris (not pictured) were both interviewed by NBC 7 news reporter Nicole Gomez.

Cadets Media

We were in between jobs so the Cadets quickly improvised and began offloading garbage to provide some b-roll footage.

Midway Group Photo

This group of cadets, staff, and crew had an opportunity to take a special tour of the USS Midway!
