The StarRez housing portal gives you access to the 2024-2025 housing application and provides important information regarding the on-campus living requirement, residential life policies, and requirements for off-campus petitions.

The first step of the StarRez housing application is completing your housing license agreement (HLA), understanding residential life policies, and completing your web profile. The second part of the application process is roommate selection process. The roommate selection process will begin during the summer for incoming cadets (June-July).

Primarily, Lower Res Hall & Maritime North will be available for selection via the StarRez Portal. Additionally, there some spaces available in McAllister Residence Hall in the StarRez system for current students.

Once rooms and/or bed spaces are filled in a particular res hall, occupied spaces will no longer display on the StarRez room selection page. Please understand that residents are selecting a "tentative" bed space when participating in room selection. Requests are dependent on availability and it is not a guarantee that our office will be able to grant your request. Residence Life will review all requests submitted and will communicate any updates throughout the remainder of semester and throughout summer months. We will do our best to accommodate change requests.

If you would like to be on the waitlist for a single room, please submit your request via the wait list page through your StarRez application.

Please understand that a single occupant room is not a guaranteed housing option here at Cal Maritime. Students should expect to have a roommate. If opportunity allows, single rooms are dependent on availability each semester. All dining related services are managed by Sodexo. For more information regarding meal plan, dining, and the food services program, please visit their webpage

All tentative room assignments will be reviewed throughout the remainder of the semester and throughout summer. Once assignments are confirmed, all room assignment emails will be sent to students by August via your @csum.edu account. The email includes details regarding your specific room assignment, your roommate information, and your check-in time for Fall 2024 Move-in Day.

For questions or more information about the room selection process, please contact Residence Life.

If you don’t participate in the room / roommate process, Residence Life will assign you a room and roommate. Our office will try our best to pair you with someone within your divisional company, major, and / or interests.

After room selection week concludes and you find someone you would like to room with at a later point, use the "Room Change Process" page in your StarRez application to input your requests for updated hall & roommate preferences.

There may be a couple of reasons for your issue. Below are a couple of troubleshooting tips to try. Additionally, please review our "how-to" guides in the current student drop-down menu at the top of the page.

1. If you log into your StarRez application and you don't have access to the "Room Selection Page" feature, please log out of your StarRez Portal and log in again. If you log in early before your time slot opens, you will be delayed. It is best to log in after your designated time slot (after 8 AM or after 2 PM).

2. Log out of the StarRez Portal and clear your browser's cache. Log back into the StarRez Portal after your time slot opened.

3. Double check your "Class Of" and GPA data. The time slot information is recorded and imported from your PeopleSoft account. The timeslot are assigned according to the data important via PeopleSoft.

4. If you completed your housing application completed after the initial deadline, you will have a delayed timeslot. Please send an email to housing@csum.edu to receive a new time slot.

All open and unassigned rooms/bed spaces are available for occupancy use. Any student who missed the room selection window and will be enrolled for the upcoming academic year, will be assigned a room assignment (unless student has been approved for off-campus housing status).

If there is an open bed space in the tentative room selected, plan to have a roommate added to the room space. The Residence Life Office will be auto-creating assignments for residential students enrolled for the upcoming year, but missed the StarRez room selection timeframe.

No.  If you received an official ADSO room accommodation, you do not need to participate in the StarRez room selection process. You will need to just complete your general housing application.

The  Res Life Office creates the specific assignment for ADSO related accommodations. There are no ADSO spaces available for selection in the StarRez system.

If you received an ADSO accommodation and you participate in the room selection process,  your StarRez selection will be adjusted and changed to a different assignment.

At the start of each semester, there is a window for open room transfers where requests are accepted during the room consolidation period. After the room consolidation / open room transfer period is complete, any requests for a room change will be reviewed by Residence Life and subject to availability.

Should the room change request occur due to roommate conflicts, residents must address the conflict with your roommate directly. If issues continue, your RHO will conduct a roommate mediation and complete a Roommate Agreement between you and your roommate. If either roommate is not adhering to the Roommate Agreement, then notify your RHO who will determine best course of action (either to amend the agreement or potential escalate to Professional Staff).
