WHO CAN USE THE MAKER SPACE?

All Cal Maritime students, faculty, and staff can use the Makerspace during open hours! Some tools require training to use (e.g., 3D printers, soldering irons, sewing machine). Attend one of our tool workshops to get certified, then come in and use the tools during open hours while Makerspace staff are present.

IS IT FREE TO USE?

Tool usage and workshops are free. However, we have limited material stock, so we ask that you bring your own as much as possible. If you would like material recommendations, contact Makerspace Technician Josh Short.

HOW DO I HOST AN EVENT IN THE MAKERSPACE?

Complete the CSUM Maker Event form at least two weeks in advance. You will hear back from the manager within two days. Events will be listed on the Makerspace's calendar.

HOW BIG ARE THE 3D PRINTERS?

All prints must fit within the build volume of the 3D printers.

The Prusa i3 MK3s+ build volume is 210X x 210Y x 250Z mm (8.3 x 8.3 x 9.84 in).

MAXIMUM DEMENSIONS ON THE LASER CUTTER

The laser cutter can fit pieces up to 32" x 18" (max material thickness of 1/4").
