The Marine Transportation degree at the California State University Maritime Academy is accredited and assessed by three agencies. As one of the many programs offered at Cal Maritime, the MT program was granted accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). In 2011, the Marine Transportation Department completed the latest WASC accreditation audit. The results of the audit affirmed the academic rigor, integrity, and sustainability of our degree program. Also, as one of the seven state and federal maritime academies in the United States, Cal Maritime's marine education and training programs are subject to the oversight and approval of the US Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration (MARAD). And, lastly, the Academy's license programs are assessed for compliance with the Standards of Training and Certification of Watchkeepers (STCW) by the United States Coast Guard's National Maritime Center (NMC).
