Day of Reflection
Part of the Resilience to Renaissance Project, the Day of Reflection is an opportunity for the campus community to come together to reflect and recognize the major national and global justice events that have occurred in the past two years and own our place and responsibility in it.

The day’s events will include a mid-day reflective activity, afternoon discussions, and an evening speaker. No advance registration is required for any of the activities.

• 1100-1400 – Quad
“The Mirror Project: Sharing Our Reflections” – Respond to two guiding prompts to share your reflections on social
justice by adding a mirror to a community art project that will be displayed in the Quad throughout the day and evening. Snacks provided.

• 1630-1730 – Compass Room
“Reflection Roundtables” – Engage in facilitated dialogues with other cadets on a range of social justice issues, including
Black Lives Matter, LGBTQI+ inclusion, Asian hate, gun violence, the health care cap, and other topics of societal concern.
Snacks provided.

• 1800-1900 – Rizza
“Reimagining the Future” – Join the campus community for an address by Mr. Chuck Collins, President Emeritus of the YMCA of San Francisco as he shares how we can move forward together, collectively addressing and understanding issues that
disproportionately affect some in our community.

ABOUT CAL MARITIME
Established in 1929, California State University Maritime Academy is the only degree-granting maritime academy on the West Coast. Located in Vallejo, California, the campus serves nearly 1,000 students and offers undergraduate degrees preparing students for careers in engineering, transportation, international relations, business, and global logistics. The new oceanography degree program launched in the fall of 2020. Cal Maritime also offers a master’s degree in Transportation and Engineering Management, as well as a number of extended learning programs and courses.
