Today is the big day for everyone on the Training Ship Golden Bear! We departed Vallejo at around 0830 this morning with the assistance of two tugs, the Patricia Ann and Alta June. It took some to get to the Golden Gate but once we did everyone was excited to go out to sea. For some this will be a continuation of last cruise and for others it will be their first time underway. In either case everyone seems to be in good spirits as we make our slow sail towards our tropical destination once again.

Once through the gate we made way towards the Islands some of the cadets began getting seasick.  Hopefully they will get their sea legs soon. The seas have been a little rough, nothing compared to prior to our arrival. The swells are slow causing the ship to take her time through the pitch. We are sailing through some fog as well.

Hearing some of the cadets talk about how excited they are is very meaningful to many on the ship. We are all happy to be here and look forward to being in the tropical heat soon.
