At approximately 0835 today, the Training Ship Golden Bear officially pulled away from the pier in Vallejo. Around 1100 the main engine safety interlocks functioned as designed and shut down the engine before any damage could occur. The Chief Engineer and his team are conducting thorough inspections of the control air components this evening and testing of the engines prior to departure tomorrow morning.

Tonight's anchoring was a known contingency within the scope of operational trial after more than six months idle ship at the pier. Team GOLDEN BEAR has executed a ready "plan B" that all mariners rehearse prior to departure.

We will keep our community safe and informed as we proceed to Seattle.
